About the Production Data
Egg production estimates are based on breed averages from university extension programs (primarily Penn State, Cornell, and Mississippi State) and the American Poultry Association's published production standards. Individual hens vary significantly — these are realistic averages for healthy, well-fed hens in appropriate conditions.
Feed consumption uses the standard 1/4 lb per hen per day for standard breeds, adjusted for breed size. Actual consumption varies with weather, activity level, and supplemental foraging.
